Spy Car
Daddy or Sir (we do not ask for the latter, but the kids frequently use the term) Finally! I was waiting for a "Sir". My father was a Naval and Marine aviator in the Second World War, and while the term is nether limited to officers, nor was my father a necessarily "military-type", I did (on occasion, and out of respect for his service) enjoy calling him Sir. MamaT
For some reason my oldest son calls my dh "Captain." I think this started around the time he was 8 years old or so (He's 22 now). None of us remember exactly why he started this. The other five call him dad. Papa was my children's name for my dh's father before he passed away. We also use sir. Caitilin
My kids call my DH "dad," which is what he wanted to be called. I grew up calling my father "papa," (which is what my DC now call him as well) and DH grew up without his father. They are now friends, and DH calls his father "Pops" and the DC call him by his name. :)
