Macrina
Can you all post your favs? I have a math-bug in the house and I want to make as many math type things available to him. I already have a gazillion manipulatives that stay accessible and he pulls them out daily (on his own) to mess around with. What else can I have? He's just four but I want to encourage his exploration. I'd like stuff he could do on his own, as well as stuff his sister could do with him and the family could do together. Jenstet
I have been using a book by Scholastic called "Shoe Box Math Learning Centers". I think I bought it on Amazon. It takes some time to set up depending on how elaborate you want to get with laminating and coloring but the kids like being able to grab a game they can play anytime. I didn't use cardboard shoeboxes either. I went to Wal-mart and bought plastic shoe drawers that stack. My kids also like Roll n' Add. They make a Roll n' Multiply too that is a lot of fun

Ellie
The Wonder Number Game. It uses a 100s board and colored plastic chips (like poker chips) to do all sorts of really nifty things.
Annie Laurie
I don't think I saw the book Family Math on Lori's list, but I may have missed it. We enjoy it. Also, the math card games from RightStart.

Miss Marple
My boys enjoyed (still do) playing Racko.
ladydusk
You might want to look into Living Math for some supplemental material.
SonshineLearner
Don't forget Greg Tang's books. You can get them from Scholastics for a special price for five of them. ($20) They are really good. I have my olders read them for hidden practice...to my little one.
AngieW in Texas
We've had a lot of fun with Muggins Math. We changed the rules to make it more cooperative though. We don't do any bluffing. You have to actually tell what you did to get your answer. If you can't come up with a way to get an answer for a spot that's empty, everybody will help you to come up with one. Once we have gone two turns in a row without anybody getting to go, we stop the game. The game is fun enough that the neighbor kids sometimes come over and ask to play it with us. The game generally takes us about 30 minutes to play. My Aspie doesn't play the game anymore. She can handle losing a game that takes less than 10 minutes to play, but not one that takes more than 20 minutes to play.
MUJLBE
Yahtzee is quite fun at that age and has adding and skip counting if you wish. Also for books are the Math Start series by Stuart J. Murphy-Levels 1,2,3 Susan ds (8)
Kareni
Also take a look at Equate which is a math game that plays like Scrabble. There are add on sets for younger and more advanced students. It's a game that requires thinking! Regards, Kareni
