madteaparty
Following the digital SAT thread, can desmos be accessed privately? I had only heard about it (before the SAT thread) because my daughter’s 7th grade math class apparently uses it extensively and I had seen the link on her canvas. But now I’m trying to see what we will do about math this summer (we have an extra short summer due to a cross country move) and I’m wondering if 1. Desmos is available for private use and 2. Is it a practice type platform like Aleks or Khan. Many thanks for any info (and dropping a link if available).
silver
Yup, Desmos is free to use: https://www.desmos.com/calculator Here's the version that is available on the SAT: https://www.desmos.com/testing/cb-digital-sat/graphing (the only difference is that that images, folders, and notes are disabled)
freesia
Yes, it is available privately https://www.desmos.com/calculator I have found some practice books on Amazon and some YouTube videos, but haven’t used any yet. I’m going to make my plan this summer.
madteaparty
Thanks both. So it’s just a calculator? My DD’s school uses Desmos classroom which must be a whole other thing

I will occasionally use a Desmos activity that some other amazing soul has programmed into it in my AP Stats class— the students can work through problems together, with everyone adding their results to a shared board, add comments, do matching activities, you name it. It’s a pretty neat ecosystem. Jen AP Statistics/PA Homeschoolers
Malam
There's also a grade 6 to algebra 1 curriculum using Desmos: https://amplify.com/programs/amplify-desmos-math/
idnib
I think they recently added or upgraded their geometry calculator as well. My son loves Desmos and plays around with it quite a bit.

Arcadia
There is also the app for phones. I prefer the app because I have too many browser windows open on my iPhone/iPad. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/desmos-graphing-calculator/id653517540 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.desmos.calculator&hl=en_US&gl=US
