Sharon in MD
DS is in at his first choice, Drexel University and is accepted and offered a Provost's Scholarship at Messiah College. Major Happy Dance!!!! Drexel doesn't let you know about scholarships until after the FAFSAs are filed, so we won't hear about that till mid-Feb. But it is sure good to know he's in. We should hear from University of Maryland, Baltimore County before the end of the month but we won't hear back from University of MD, College Park until mid January. So, it's two down and two to go. Sharon in MD
If your dc is interested in the engineering school then I'd call the college of engineering and ask about attending High School Day during Engineers Week, 16-20 Feb 2009. That is what we did last year and it was a great experience. We arranged a couple departmental visits for the afternoon and that is when ds really fell in love with the place. We really got great tours of both the Mechanical and Materials departments. They spent a lot of time with us and were extremely friendly and helpful. We attended a Visit Day this past fall to do the official admissions type of visit and scheduled a visit with the Music department as well. DS spent three weeks at Drexel over the summer on a mentorship program with the college of engineering....that was what really sealed the deal for him....if there is anyway for us to make it happen money wise, I'm pretty sure that is where he will go.
