violin + piano piece (upper intermediate / advanced)

Hi,

I know this is a stretch, I'm trying to find a good duet (?) for my violinist daughter and pianist son to play together. Both teachers have said, "Great idea!" but when I ask for a specific piece, each defers to the other.

Both kids like classical music a lot. Violinist daughter is in Suzuki book level 7 and pianist son is playing Beethoven Concertos. There are a lot of violin "solos" with piano accompaniment, but I'd rather them play something where both instruments are equals.

Thanks for the help, Emily

Here's a decent list of some chamber pieces, a number marked as violin/piano duos to check out.  That might be a good way to google further, music marked as chamber music would probably generally be more equal in parts.

I love this!  I have a piano son and a violin daughter, piano son is off to college though and I miss the piano playing!  They did some duet playing back in the day.

Suzuki Level 7 is no quite as advanced as Beethoven Concerto. So my first suggestion is that you look at pieces based in the violinist's capabilities, not the pianist. Mozart's Violin and Piano Sonata duet K304 might be a good one for them to wet their teeth on. It is a lovely piece, but not taxing.
