My dc’s university is using them for all off campus students and for random testing through the semester. They say they will send them to Rutgers and have results in about two days. I didn’t even know they were a thing and I’m wondering how accurate they are. My dc are scheduled for the first one next week. My state is apparently providing them to teachers and other school staff, but I've wondered how fast they get results and how accurate they are. HSmomof2 Posted August 12, 2020 Share Posted August 12, 2020 I just watched a segment on the news about the saliva tests.....they appear to be very good, much more tolerable for people, and don’t require much PPE for health care workers to administer. RootAnn Posted August 12, 2020 Share Posted August 12, 2020 I haven't seen anything on them in awhile, but I remember linking to a preliminary study about them quite awhile ago. I believe the thought at the time was that they show infection at lower levels than the PCR tests and thus perhaps were more effective earlier.
