JFSinIL
I just got back from an abortive trip to UPS - $161.42 to send presents to California is about as much as I paid for the gifts to begin with!!!!!! I went in figuring, sigh, maybe $80 at most....aargh!!!! Need I add I am back home with my boxes, unsent.
PariSarah
Sometimes smaller, lighter packages are cheaper than big heavy ones. At least, that's what the guy said to the lady in line ahead of me today. A huge, heavy box (like, as tall as an eight-year-old, and packed with clothes and a few books) was going to be $200; he told her to go home and pack it in three or four smaller boxes and that it would be cheaper. G5052
Parcel Post can be cheaper, but not always. USPS "Calculate Postage" link on their website, and so does UPS. Parcel Post is like Media Mail though. It can be extremely slow, and I think that they're rougher on the packages than other methods. lynn
Depends on size and weight. Something in a big box is cheaper fed ex or ups than the post office.
Delighted3
but maybe you could try USPS. They have flat rate boxes available for $9 and $11. I have been able to pack a lot of stuff into them. You can see the sizes online. HTH, Joy
LaxMom
I have never found a significant difference between the price of Parcel Post (5-7 days to Maine) and Priority Mail (3 days, tops). In fact, there have been times when PP cost a few cents more! :001_huh: And, yes, UPS adds an annoyance premium to oversized boxes (I'm sure they don't call it that) so shipping in multiple, regular sized packages is generally cheaper. NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
The 2-3 Day Priority Mail ones. They are one price and I don't think the weight matters. They come in two sizes. http://www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-prices.htm
Ria
I've found Fed Ex to be much cheaper than UPS. Parcel Post will probably be the cheapest. Ria

plansrme
Weight is irrelevant, and they're not picky about bulging seams. It can be a great deal if you have small but heavy items. There are 2 different sizes, they're free, and a friendly postal clerk will usually let you take them home to stuff, errr, pack.
