DawnM
Son is going to Scout Camp in 3 weeks. I completely forgot to schedule a physical this year. I called today and they can't get him in at all. They are booked until July. If I wanted to go to one of those CVS type places, can I make an appointment? Or do I just walk in? I am up a creek here. ARGH! Butter
If I wanted to go to one of those CVS type places, can I make an appointment? Or do I just walk in? Either. Go to minuteclinic.com, find your closest one, and either schedule an appointment or you can reserve your place in line or find out how long the current wait is to just walk in.
MysteryJen
I always use Walgreens for sports physicals, you can make an appointment or just walk in. For the Walgreens website, you can see how busy each clinic is. Super easy and convenient.
J-rap
We've gone to Target clinics a few times, and have been super impressed with them! Maybe they work similar to the CVS ones. At Target, you can sometimes make the appointment online ahead of time. I think you can call or check online to find out. If you can't make it online, you'll want to put your name in their system as soon as you get there, and then plan to wait a bit. Sometimes you can go online and find out the wait time at different clinics.
DawnM
Is Walgreens better? Can you tell me why? I don't mind going there, but CVS is more convenient.

DawnM
Thank you! I have made an appt with CVS for next week through their online system but can change it if necessary.
DawnM
For CVS you can just walk in. But I am not sure they do physicals. I would look into any urgent care centers around you, some of them do physicals as well as sick visits. Make sure wherever you take him, you call first to make sure they will do the physical and fill out his camp form (just to save yourself a wasted visit and added frustration). Good luck. I was told they did and it says on their website they do (just looked.) I am usually on top of this from around April, but two things have happened. My older two boys have Eagle and don't go anymore, so I am no longer needing to schedule 3 boys and DH. Only my youngest is going, so only one, and he is my youngest, and well, being the typical baby, he gets overlooked sometimes...... :crying: And I am working now and it just isn't on my radar. MysteryJen
I use Walgreens because I don't think CVS is available here.
mom2scouts
We did that one year and used one of those CVS type places. They do physicals and it was fine. I put it off this year because ds needed surgery and then realized he needs it for next week! Fortunately, the surgeon agreed to fill it out and add any restrictions. We've been doing this scouting thing for 20+ years and I still mess up and forget.
Butter
CVS and Walgreen's urgent cares are pretty much the same. They use PAs and nurse practitioners. For most insurances, it is billed as a regular doctor's visit and not as a specialist or urgent care (if they have different co-pay amounts). Use whichever is more convenient.

Pawz4me
In addition to the drug stores, we have urgent care/walk in places around here that are affiliated with the local hospitals who will do sports physicals. The ones we've used have been the same co-pay as our primary care docs.
MooCow
For band camp one year we used the little clinic inside Kroger. Worked out great.
