daijobu
My dd would like to some practice reading short passages and answering questions about them, in preparation for standardized tests. Could you recommend any books with practice questions? And weirdly, I have posted on this question (twice!), and while I'm able to access links to these WTM threads, I am unable to access the actual threads. It says I am not a member of the Mom's of Autism Spectrum social group (true), where my thread now resides for some reason, when I originally posted it to the Logic Stage group. If anyone can access these threads from 2013 and 2014, please LMK! ETA: I was able to access old threads by signing out of the WTM. By being logged in to WTM I was unable to access them. Go figure. the old threads are here and here. Edited December 17, 2016 by daijobu
OlgaLA
It depends on the standardized test, I think. A lot of CTC books do that (like reading detective, history books, science detective). There is also Barron's Reading workbook, but that is more for SAT.
SarahW
I agree that Reading Detective is good. It usually has quality questions, and asks the student to identify exactly where they found the answer in the passage. The beginning of the books has a good discussion of inference and other reading strategies. My only complaint is that this discussion isn't integrated into the passages themselves, or always pointed out in the answer key. But if you're not targeting specific issues but just want practice, it's adequate for that.
Alessandra
I like Evan More's Daily Reading Comprehension -- not specifically designed for test prep, but well put together and actually fun to use, IMO. If your test and s one of those that is taken online, you could chevk out a free trial of Achieve 3000 -- I despise this program, but it is designed for test prep. redsquirrel
I use old NY regents exams. They are all online along with the answer keys http://www.nysedregents.org/ If you are looking for a student who is younger than high school click on the link near the top of the page "elementary/intermediate tests grades 3-8' with the link 'ela, math and science' There you will find lots of past tests for those grades. I use them frequently for things like reading comprehension.

Arcadia
SSAT The libraries have the test prep books. These libraries are on link+. Is it for private high school? The ones I ask would take ACT or SAT scores instead saving me having to pay for SSAT.
