KarenNC
My husband is supposed to drive to Atlanta (area near Decatur) from the Charlotte area on Sunday, so down I-85. Anyone have any feel for how accessible gas is on that route at this point?
lmrich
Gas is available (at least around me) in Atlanta. We are headed to Charleston and hope they have some so we can get home.
AimeeM
I'm in Upstate SC, so I can't speak for other areas of SC, but we have unleaded now!
zoobie
After that first weekend, it's been fine around Atlanta. I've seen a couple of smaller stations out, but the huge ones have it.
saraha
I am glad you started this thread. We had a strange experience on the way home from Fl where we stopped outside of Atlanta and had to go to three gas stations before we found one with working pumps. We were at a huge highway exit area with at least 5-6 gas stations, and noticed after driving around that only one had cars at the pumps. We didn't go into the station so hadn't asked what was up. So, what was up?

Cinder
Dh just traveled down through PA, NC, TN to GA; not on 85, though. He said the gas situation was fine throughout. The only difference is that GA prices are much higher. Our area (NW of ATL metro) is averaging about $2.40 up from about 2.09 before the leak.
ashfern
I'm in the NW suburbs of Atlanta. We had no gas at many of the gas stations earlier in the week (although the RaceTrac somehow had gas). By yesterday only one tiny gas station didn't have any gas. Everyone is around $2.39 now.
Alicia64
If you're a Costco member, they have gas at great prices. I think it was at $2.09 at the Mall of GA Costco -- which is just off 85. When we travel, we program Costco into our GPS so we can find the cheapest gas along the route. Alley
Caroline
I went into Atlanta today. Gas was running $2.69 in the city. I think it's $2.59 out here. I've been driving the leaf as much as possible, but between soccer and a trip into the city today, I had to drive a gas powered car.
KarenNC
Thanks, all. It looks like he'll be okay for the trip, which is a relief. Good point about Costco--we recently got a membership, so he'll have to keep an eye out.

On his way down 85, there's one just off Steve Reynolds Blvd near Gwinnett Place Mall, which is in a neighboring county. It shouldn't be hard to find gas at all though. It is more expensive the closer you get to downtown Atlanta (and gas stations are smaller and harder to find), but the suburbs all seem to be around $2.39. He'll be fine! :)

It turns out he'll actually be in Buckhead rather than Decatur (my daughter had an interview with a rep from Agnes Scott recently and I think I mixed the two locations up). BTW, any good used bookstores in the Buckhead area? Edited September 25, 2016 by KarenNC
