blondeviolin
We're a do-the-next-thing family so I've never had a teacher's planner. But I've got four kids schooling this year and am going to start requiring my oldest to keep a planner (I think it's good practice). Now I'm wondering if I should have one. Is there one you love? I'm worried that in my just-do-the-next-lesson mode I'll find it superfluous. Skip it? Do you have one you love?
happypamama
I use OneNote for my planning but am largely "do the next thing" so it's more for a checklist of which subjects to do which days because some alternate. I did print out a simple gridded planner that I made in OpenOffice to use this year for the little extras so I can plan which days to do specific science, history, art, geography projects, mainly so I can keep track of when to assemble extra books and materials so that I'm not putting too much on any one day. I am hoping that actually writing things out will be useful, plus I included a box for other things to note, like appointments, and space to list things to gather/buy/request from library for the following week. Ecclecticmum
I use homeschool tracker and print out their task lists (i'm a list girl). I don't get all overinvolved in it. Like the Math Lessons are literally stuff like MCRuffy Math Lesson 1, Lesson 2, etc. It holds me more accountable, and I never used to like that sort of thing preferring to handwrite out, but I spent more time playing with the planners than actually using them, lol. If I was a person who was already ontop of things, a simple spiral notebook could work as a planner, Blog She Wrote has details on that, or if I wanted to go all fancy, Well Planned Day. Otherwise for the rest of my chaotic world, I use a Moleskine for Bullet Journaling and Lists/Collections, and Franklin Covey ideals and planner inserts for daily life planning. Jess4879
There's a bunch of ideas in this thread: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/615501-planner-recommendation/ :)
Minerva
I use the At-A-Glance Academic Planner. It work great for me. I have tried some online planners but realized that I need to actually write stuff down on paper for it to be useful. I use the monthly view for planning activities and the weekly view for recording work and projects.
OneStepAtATime
I do well with lists but found I was always having to modify paper planners and it frustrated me. I switched to Homeschool Planet and can just print out our lists for the day. Any changes can be made in a heartbeat. And I can see if we will get through everything by our planned for breaks/end date and adjust accordingly.
smudge
If youre near a Target, I picked up a Teacher planner for about $3 in the dollar spot section of the store. Its basic but enough space to sketch everything out.
PollyOR
This is my favorite, but I only have one student. I record as we go. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/463764/Todays-Teacher-by-Blue-Sky-Wire/
