dorothy
I am looking at the next level for us and do have WTM. I will read that but am wondering what people are actually doing/requiring from their 6th graders. Thanks.

at the beach
I am looking at the next level for us and do have WTM. I will read that but am wondering what people are actually doing/requiring from their 6th graders. Thanks. I always enjoy seeing what others are doing. So, here's my dd's 6th grade schedule this year. Sonlight Core 5 for History, Literature, and Bible GP Latin Prep 1 GP SYRWTL English 2 GP SYRWTL Science 1 Calvert 6 Spelling CD Singapore Math (with some Rod and Staff) Artistic Pursuits Book 1 from 4th through 6th grade level Artist/Composer/Shakespeare/Poetry from Ambleside Online, plus a few other AO picks from nature study and biographies as time allows Piano, violin, and dance lessons I think that covers it. As for goals, I would like her to become more comfortable with writing, so I am giving her a bit more than basic written narration now. We are doing writing assignments from her English text and I am using Writer's Inc. for ideas. I am reading The Lively Art of Writing myself. I want her to be able to feel comfortable doing an outline. I do plan to have her complete a research paper this year, but a short one. I also want her to be comfortable with basic arithmetic. I want to get her through Singapore 6B, focusing heavily on their word problems. Anita

Ida
K12 English A (consumer direct-I am especially liking the lit.) NEM 1 K12 U.S. History (folding in 7 and 9 yos) K12 Earth Science/PH Earth Science GP Latin Prep I GP SYRWTL Spanish I K12 Art (compliments history; siblings join in) Critical Thinking Bk. 1 I also have him sit in on AAS 2 and dictation with the youngers because his spelling and writing are weak. At the rate we're going it's going to take us 3 years just to get through 6th grade. We are still trying to set a rhythm for this year and adjust to the increased work load and logic stage thinking.
