Prairie~Phlox
I am not very money savvy and am just curious how many people own stock in something. Even if it's not much. Phlox

Diana in OR
I'm not very savvy on the economy either, and I don't have much money, but I thought it might be interesting to buy some stock sometime in the near future.
Jenny in Atl
We used to.. a good bit to. I was very good at the whole buy sell trade thing, but then had kids and lost interest. I wish we had not pulled out of the market when we did. Ah, all the things I would re-do if given the choice.
Tarheel Heather
Yep, 401K, kids college funds, it's all tied into stock somehow.
laylamcb
I said yes, but to clarify: I don't own shares directly--I don't have the stomach for the price fluctuations anymore.;) We own stocks via the mutual funds that our 457, 403b, and IRAs are invested in. Mama Lynx
I have stocks that I hold for the long term. Unfortunately, I had to sell most of mine this year, to finance our move. I still have some. All my kids have stock that was given to them as gifts.
MelissaM
Yes ma'am. Now is the time to buy since so much is "on sale".

Amy loves Bud
We do. We used to purchase stocks directly, but the time commitment to managing it was too much, and the risk too high. Most of what we bought was in Bud's industry since that is what we understood well enough to purchase. A few years back we moved most everything to mutual funds, since we didn't want the time commitment, and we particularly didn't want the risk of Bud's empoyment AND all our investments being tied up in one industry. If you are interested in buying stocks, it's probably a safer thing to find a well-managed, no-load mutual fund. If you like the roller coaster ride and can stomach the additional risk, then have fun picking individual stocks. Of course, as has been demonstrated very clearly, EVERY investment carries a certain amount of risk!
shell in SC
Not just in 401K, but I have some shares I purchased outright. I had planned to sell them to help DD get a car, but I think I'll wait! I just said to DH last night, that I wish I had a chunk of money to invest. . .now's the time to buy. . .everything is on sale! Valerie in Chicago
I'm with MelissaM and shell in SC. I might go shopping like a little old lady at a clearance sale. But yeah, lots of stocks. And most of them have treated us well.
HRAAB
Yes, too much for my comfort level since we don't have a lot of years before dh's planned retirement which looks like it is getting pushed out and out and out. Janet
