Scuff
So, I still haven't bought TWTM. I've gotten it from the library a few times, but haven't actually purchased yet. And it's in high demand, so I can't get it right now. ;) I wanted to get some classic books for the children to listen to. I was going to get the Chronicles of Narnia, but DH said he wanted to read that to them. So, any other ideas? What are some good books to get for them? Thanks! Stacy in NJ
I'd just go to your library and see what audio books they have on their shelves. Use what's available for free.
Tami
I think that Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and Just So Stories are wonderful audio books for those ages! Check your library -- Just So Stories read by Flo Gibson is one of my all-time favorites!

Testimony
I try to find books on audio that are tough reads ie pronunciation maybe difficult for me to do. So, I search the library's audios for books that are really long like Robinson Crusoe or they have difficult words to pronounce in the book. I use that gage sometimes not always. I want the children to get the correct pronunciation so that they are hearing it. My library has: Robinson Crusoe, unabridged Swiss Family Robinson, unabridged The Wind and the Willow, unabridged Alice in Wonderland Alice through the looking glass The Hobbit Those are just a few that I have done on audio for them. Blessings in your homeschooling journey! Sincerely, Karen http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/testimony

NancyinCA
We have been able to get lots of good audio books through our library. A couple we have particularly enjoyed are Charlotte's Web, read by EB White, and the Ramona books read by Stockard Channing. hth,

Scuff
Thanks for the suggestions! Our library is small and doesn't have much at all, but we have a great interlibrary loan program. So I can get most anything, but I have to be able to look it up on the computer and put it on hold, not browse a shelf. When I looked in the audiobook section of the website, I got over a few thousand pages, so I needed a way to narrow it down! This'll give me a place to start. Thanks! All 3 of them love listening to things, so I want to feed that. :D Edited September 28, 2008 by Scuff
dcjlkplus3
My one rule (for me) is that audio books need to be unabridged. My dd7 can read abridged versions, but if she is listening, I prefer to have the "real" thing. My kids all love the Magic Tree House books. Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web. Mary Poppins Tom Sawyer Peter Pan Look at the library. If you have an mp3 player, you can download books from a lot of libraries - some you can burn onto a cd. Just browse the children's fiction/literature catergories.
