bettyandbob
and I wanted to tell someone. dd17 pulled out my Pfaff and noticed there was something wrong with the presser foot. I took it in and the repairman immediately says you have bigger problems. The circuit board was shot. In discussing it, it was clear repair was going to cost more than I can justify right now. The store had a 1970s Bernina 830 for cheap. I tried it out and bought. No electronic parts. A good amount of stitches. The repairman/shop owner is going to get me an owner's manual and mail it to me. We finished dd's cosplay outfit for an upcoming anime convention last night. The machine was so smooth. I can't believe it's older than a lot of people on this board (definitely not older than me though). And I get to say I own a Bernina. I wonder if anyone here has this machine. Guest
No, but i have 2 Berninas, from the 2000 amd 2001, and I love them both. :0) One is at our cabin. My dh gave it to me for our 20th wedding anniversary.

Beth S
Enjoy finding new projects to begin on your new machine. I love my mechanical Pfaff, too (circa 1993).

Momling
I love my Bernina! I got it new a few years ago and now can't believe how long I struggled with my junky cheap Singer. Or even with my moms 1960's Viking.
Teresa in MO
I have had a Bernina 830 for the past 20 years. Bought it used. It has been a wonderful machine. While I don't sew much now, it was put to alot of use while my daughters were growing up. Now, it is used mainly for repairs. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine! Lawana
You lucky duck! I had a Bernina 630 that I bought way used in high school and it finally gave up the ghost after I put another 25 years on it!

Jann in TX
I bought my middle dd a Bernina 830 for Christmas-- we did a sewing project together this past weekend. I :001_tt1: that machine. I own a great Bernina from 2004 (with full set of attachments/embroidery...) but her machine is so SMOOTH-- perfect tension and will be a lot less of a pain to maintain! Have fun!
