MomtoCandJ
I'm looking to get a tablet for school and I see a lot of people suggest iPads (if you have a better, cheaper recommendation please share). I also know that some of you have purchased refurbished iPads and was wondering where I can order those.
zoobie
Apple's website carries refurbs. The stock may be low-ish from the holiday shopping.
LucyStoner
Powermax has new, used and refurbished iPads as well. Www.powermax.com
Miss Peregrine
We buy all of our Apple products refurbished. Search 'refurbished' on the Apple Store.
Spryte
We buy refurbs from the apple store, too.
Mrs Mungo
We ordered refurbished ipad 2s directly from Apple. They come with the same service and warranty as a new Apple product. We have had them for about 4 years now? They are still working great.
MomtoCandJ
Is there any other suggestions for a tablet? I will be using it primarily for e-textbooks so I won't need to try to read a 5+ lb book in bed. Even the refurbished iPads are out of my price range :(
blondeviolin
Kindle fire?
Firefly
Just got DH a refurbished iPad Air from Apple for the holidays... so, too soon to tell. But, we've bought a lot of different refurbs from Apple over the years and haven't had a single problem. *knocks wood*
Tsuga
I am very happy with the refurbished MacBook Air I purchased online from the Mac store with a guarantee. I would buy directly from the store again. I saved about 50%.

LucyStoner
What's your price range? The iPad I am on right now was used from PowerMax. It's a retina display, full size version with 32gb. It was $227 shipped. I paid $269 for a refurb 16gb model from the Apple Store online for my son. The stock varies, you have to watch and wait. I got mine mainly for school books and I like the iPad a lot. My son had a Google nexus tablet ($200) for over a year before he got the iPad but it just wasn't as sturdy for him. LucyStoner
If you ONLY use it for e-textbooks can you use a Kindle reader, which has no apps, and which is only for reading? A lot of schools use Bookshelf and other textbook suppliers which are only available on tablet apps and not easy to use on an e reader. I would massively prefer an e ink screen for reading textbooks but I can't get my text books in that format.
