Switching science curriculum mid-year???

We have been using Mr. Q's Chemistry curriculum. We just finished chapter 16 (out of 38 I think??).  To be honest, I am just not liking it. It's either too boring, or too high for my two, or both.  The experiments have rarely worked for us. We enjoyed the life science one but this one is flopping for me and my kids.

I am thinking of switching to something completely different--Inquiry in Action--the ACS free curriculum. I have a friend using it at co-op and she loves it.

Is there a good reason to stick with my current curriculum and/or not to switch at this point?  I kind of feel like I need permission somehow to do this. That makes no sense but I am totally a box checker and I feel some guilt about not seeing this through.

Thanks in advance for your input.
