cintinative
We have been using Mr. Q's Chemistry curriculum. We just finished chapter 16 (out of 38 I think??). To be honest, I am just not liking it. It's either too boring, or too high for my two, or both. The experiments have rarely worked for us. We enjoyed the life science one but this one is flopping for me and my kids. I am thinking of switching to something completely different--Inquiry in Action--the ACS free curriculum. I have a friend using it at co-op and she loves it. Is there a good reason to stick with my current curriculum and/or not to switch at this point? I kind of feel like I need permission somehow to do this. That makes no sense but I am totally a box checker and I feel some guilt about not seeing this through. Thanks in advance for your input. Lolly
You have permission. I do feel it is important to stick to certain subjects for a longer haul. Science is definitely not one of them! Honestly, at this point in their education, science is just gravy. Do something enjoyable with it!
EKS
You have my permission to switch as well! (Also, you might want to take a look at Ellen McHenry's chemistry materials. They were a huge hit here.)
cintinative
EKS, I am seeing that the Elements by Ellen McHenry is designed to take 12 weeks. Is that the one you completed? It is nice that I would not be adding another 38 weeks of science to our 16 completed. =)
Jess4879
We dumped Mr. Q's Earth Science part way through for the same reason.

cintinative
Thanks EKS, it looks like just what we need.
Soror
I think trying Ellen McHenry's Elements would be perfect, especially as you only have part of the year left. It is very engaging and easy to implement.
Dory
I agree with the Ellen McHenry's suggestion. It's excellent. We just finished it last spring.
