Pegasus
DD14 has asked to do a mythology study. She is very familiar with Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology and wants to learn more about the mythology of other cultures, maybe from African, Asian, Native American, etc. cultures. Does anyone know of resources that they would recommend? Thanks!
Crimson Wife
I have this book and it's okay: http://www.amazon.com/World-Mythology-Anthology-Great-Myths/dp/0844259659/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1395588616&sr=1-1&keywords=0844259659The diversity of myths covered and the discussion questions are excellent, but the retellings are kind of meh. Rosie_0801
And while you're waiting for your Amazon order :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vh6moD9ZOU
SilverMoon
We have World Mythology: The Illustrated Guide, isbn 1900131056. The retellings aren't Bulfinch or Colum quality by any means, but it's a great jumping off place. If one strikes a nerve then we can track down a resource just for that region. Kfamily
This one is free...http://www.sacred-texts.com/etc/omw/index.htm (Myths of the World by Padraic Colum) My older daughter read this and liked it. It may not be comprehensive enough, but it could be a good starting point.
EndOfOrdinary
World Mythology by Rosenburg is what I used in my early college work. My son used it this year and really enjoyed it. There are discussion questions in the back that can easily be turned into essay questions.
