Ali in OR
Don't want them confiscating my Kleen Kanteen, but would love to fill it up at the airport McDonalds or a drinking fountain to have water on the plane. Thanks.
Amy in NH
Yes, that's what I do.
regentrude
We have taken empty bottles through security. You might have to demonstrate that it is empty.
Mom in High Heels
We've never had a problem with it. Han Solo will only drink out of a Camel Bak (I have yet to figure out why), so we always take it with us.
73349
Yes, I've done it. It's the liquid they object to, not the bottle.
Carol in Cal.
Yes, I do this all the time. I don't use a good bottle though, but one of those half liter Alhambra ones, just in case they get capricious and decide to take it.
fraidycat
Yep. We do it every time we fly because airplane air is so dry! I just fill them at the nearest fountain after we get through security.

rhrice3
Yes, we always travel with water bottles -empty. Then we fill up at fountain near gate. Once on the way back from Italy my dd forgot, and she had water still in it at German security check. They let her drink it in front of them -proving it was water. Of course, she was tall, blonde, and 18. I would never get away with that ; ) Rhrice3
G5052
We did it going overseas last summer. No problem as long as it is empty when you go through.
