lanabug
I LOVE the methodology of AAS, but my dd8 hated the kinesthetic portion of the lessons. She would much rather sit down with a workbook and tackle spelling on her own. And honestly, it's nice to let her work on her own while I have one-on-one lessons with my kindergartner. Is there anything that is similar to AAS but in a workbook format? We're using SWO B right now but I am not crazy about it. Thanks, Lana

Terabith
Apples and Pears is not at all something that can be done independently.
HSinNH
Rod and Staff Spelling is often called the workbook version of AAS on these boards. DD12 is using 6th grade and I agree.
silver
I've turned a few of the level 3 AAS lessons into workbook lessons with my son. I would type up the appropriate word bank for him to read. Then the word for him to analyze, with instructions to write the base word, suffix, underline multi-letter phonograms, mark the syllables, etc. I typed the new teaching up, changing the tile work to writing work. Then the end had blank lines for the words to quiz on and a few dictation sentences. If you absolutely love AAS but need a workbook, that could be an option to do. Otherwise, as previous posters have mentioned Rod and Staff and How to Teach Spelling/How to Spell are rule-based workbook options for spelling. twoxcell
It isn't exactly like AAS but we switched from AAS 3 to R&S Spelling By Sound and Structure and I love it. My ds is able to do it almost entirely independently and his spelling has improved greatly the last year or two since the switch. :)
