Sherry in OH
Which is the better option Star Wars complete saga or the two trilogy sets? The reviews for the complete saga indicate that some scenes have been changed. Have those scenes also been altered in the trilogy sets? Anything else that makes one option better than the other. The price is roughly equivalent. I don't want to ask the intended recipient. Thanks.

Stick to the original three movies.
dhudson
But if they already have the originals they might want the new ones. I know we own all the different versions.
happi duck
I asked ds... Most likely the complete saga has the changes that George Lucas made...added scenes, added special effects. The trilogy sets have been released at different times. If these are recent sets they might have the changes...though it seems they would mention the changes. Hardcore fans fall into different camps. If this is for a new fan probably either option is okay.

happi duck
Forgot to ask...do you have links to the specific sets?
Mommyof4ks
We bought the two sets that came out about 4-5 years ago, and they had the added scenes and graphics. My kids do not know the difference, but I do, so I agree if this is a long time fan, then look for older versions. Newer fans will not really know the difference. :)
Sherry in OH
Forgot to ask...do you have links to the specific sets? Complete Saga http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Complete-Episodes-Blu-ray/dp/B003ZSJ212/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386369684&sr=8-1&keywords=star+wars+blue+ray IV-VI http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trilogy-Episodes-IV-VI-Blu-ray/dp/B00E9PMMX0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386369833&sr=8-2&keywords=star+wars+blue+ray I-III http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trilogy-Episodes-I-III-Blu-ray/dp/B00E9PMML2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1386369874&sr=8-3&keywords=star+wars+blue+ray They have all been released/remade within the past three years. I don't know how he feels about original versus remake. Star Wars blu ray was just the only thing on his wish list that didn't require technical knowledge. (He also wants a new capacitor for his computer and an internal hard drive ....) Watching the prices fluctuate has been kind of interesting. If I don't find something this weekend, he'll probably end up with cash to buy the computer parts.
Beth S
One big change (for example, and I am just a nominal fan surrounded by extreme fans) is the final scene in Episode VI. At the end of the original, they showed the "ghosts" of Obi Wan, Yoda, and Darth-Vader-without-the-mask. In the remake, they photoshopped Anakin, removing Darth-Vader without the mask. dbmamaz
Right, the redone version of the ending of episode 6 has continuity to the newer movies, the originals are what the hard core fans want. I'd go with updated, personally.
gardenmom5
find the originals on vhs from before. George loved to tinker and all the copies on dvd have been tinkered with.
happi duck
The complete saga seems to have nice extras. Depending who is for I would buy it but be sure I could return it.
Mom in High Heels
I asked Indy, and he said the Complete Saga. We have all 3, but he said the complete saga is almost the same, but has better extras. He's seen them all a gazillionty time, so he would know, I guess. BTW, I'd just like to say: HAN SHOT FIRST!!!!
