Chrysalis Academy
. . . but not Cam Jansen. She says it's too easy to figure out what is going to happen. She loves books like Black Hearts in Battersea that are full of mystery & adventure. We're looking for things like that, which she can read independently. She can read 2nd-4th grade level chapter books easily, things like Cam Jansen, Junie B. Jones, Horse Crazy, etc. but needs more high-interest stuff. She loves horses & mysteries. Any ideas? Farrar
They would be on the easy end, but all the Rob Roy books - A to Z Mysteries, Capitol Mysteries, Calendar Mysteries - would be good.
Soror
http://www.amazon.com/Father-Brown-Reader-Stories-Chesterton/dp/0976638673/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1376754197&sr=1-1&keywords=father+brown+mysteries+for+kids I missed where you had listed her reading level, so these are likely too high, iirc they are 4-5th grade. Farrar
Many of the ones Lamppost suggests are great. I'm not sure about her reading level though. I mean, Enola Holmes or Chasing Vermeer occurred to me too, but I'm not sure if they were too difficult or not.
Juliegmom
You have some great suggestions here. I'd like to add Jewel Fairies by Daisy Meadows and Magic Tree House books.
Chrysalis Academy
Thanks you guys!! These look great. It's hard to be more specific on the reading level - I've looked at the AR level of things she's been reading recently, and they seem to range from 2nd-early 4th grade, but there is quite a range. She's at that funny spot where she's ready for more than easy chapter books, but I'm not sure how much more. She's been listening to books that are way above her reading level for years, and she has an excellent vocabulary, but we're still working on phonics, she's not great at sounding out big words yet, she tends to guess and/or skip, which means she misses some crucial content. I'll grab a bunch of these from the library and see what she likes, and can handle.

Crimson Wife
I loved "The Westing Game" when I was a kid. Might be a bit long for her now, but definitely keep it in mind for whenever she's ready.
