Prairie~Phlox
by the views they get on items. I mean things can be $9.99 one day and then $20.xx two days later.
MeghanL
Yeah, amazon is not good about keeping items at a predictable price. On the flip side though, I have been known to add gifts to my wish list and keep them there for a few months (mainly for Christmas shopping). I just watch the price fluctuate until I feel like I'm getting a steal, then I buy! I've saved 70% on a train table, The Magic School House DVD's, Schoolhouse Rock DVD and a basketball hoop with this method. Of course, that doesn't help at all if you don't have months to wait. Butter
They don't just raise their prices! They drop them randomly, too. Sometimes it's a pretty dramatic drop.
Tita Gidge
I don't buy from Amazon very often, usually just curriculum, so this is good to know. I'll have to time my purchases to off-curriculum-season :)

poppy
You can always go to camelcamelcamel.com to see the price history of a product. It's the best way to see if you're getting a good deal or not.

I always keep stuff in my cart or the "save for later" section and grab it when the price is low. Prices on certain things go up and down regularly. This is especially handy for things you buy often, like lotion, foods, vitamins, etc.
Live2Ride
It doesn't bother me. I buy now if I need it, I save it for later if I don't. I managed to pick up many things at 50% or more like that. Patience...besides, their return policy is so much better than anything locally.

I've gotten small refunds on several occasions.
