jenn&charles
I love historical fiction so I created this: The History Shelf is a project I've started that lists a variety of historical fiction novels, some non-fiction history books and history movies in the context of a timeline. Now you can look up a time in history and see some great books & movies listed according to WHEN they happened. Browse the timeline and browse the books! http://www.guesthollow.com/history_shelf/history_shelf.html :-)

VaKim
http://www.amazon.com/Harlem-Summer-Walter-Dean-Myers/dp/0439368448/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359724345&sr=8-1&keywords=harlem+summer This was a book we just happened upon in our library last month and we all really enjoyed it! It is set in 1925, and though it is historical fiction, it includes many real people from that time period. We read it in conjunction with a nonfiction book on the Harlem Renaissance and had quite a lot of fun seeing the folks we learned about in the story. chicagoshannon
Iread a pretty good book a couple of weeks ago about the Oregon trail. It's called Oregon Country by T.J. Hanson. It's historical fiction about the first wagon train west. It is very detailed.
