Reya
And I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. I hated teaching violin so much. Hatehatehatehatehatehate. I now I just have to holler "What did your teacher say???" when I hear something I loathe. He's doing better in piano with someone to actually teach that, too! Dmmetler
Does it make you feel better to know that I outsource music instruction too, and I'm a MUSIC TEACHER? I can teach DD just about anything-but for music, we end up butting heads constantly. She needs me to be the parent, not the teacher in that area. Ellie
I don't call it either "wimping out" or "outsourcing." :-)
catz
Almost everyone I know who started teaching their kids music either quit or outsourced at some point. It's a good thing! I love our music teachers.
chickenpatty
Happened to me too!
musicianmom
I would love to have my daughter with a different teacher, but she won't hear of it. So I use that as a threat - cooperate with me or off to another teacher you go!
Aurelia
I would totally outsource music if I could. We live in a small town and I think there's maybe one teacher within 20 miles of us.
kbpaulie
Yeah, I learned a long time ago that music and swimming are 2 subjects that I just can't teach to my own children.

He just will NOT listen to anything I have to say about violin. It was maddening.
Reya
Yeah, I learned a long time ago that music and swimming are 2 subjects that I just can't teach to my own children. I'm just too lazy for swimming, but I did get my DD halfway through level 2 once I learned from watching my DS's class what was expected. I don't mind doing a week of practice at the beginning of summer with DS, though!
PeacefulChaos
I SO wish I could do that! But I'm very happy for you! :)
musicianmom
That's quite a compliment though. What she doesn't realize is that I probably push her harder than an outside teacher would. But we get to have snuggle breaks when frustrations run high. :)
