AngieW in Texas
She has been reading at grade level since 5th grade, but she still didn't enjoy reading and didn't read very much at all. She would occasionally find a book or series that she really liked and read it (like Hunger Games), but recently she's been on a massive book reading binge. She usually reads about one book/month. Since the beginning of September, she has read Paper Towns, Abundance of Katherines, Fault in Our Stars, The Selection, The Name of the Star, and Cinder. That's one book/week. It's really nice to see her excited about books. She is very excited about the Texas Book Festival that is coming here in a couple of weeks. She is also excited about starting NaNoWriMo next month. LizzyBee
 Not long ago, I came home from work and my dyslexic dd11 told me that she started reading The Wizard of Oz. This is a huge step up for her! It feels great, doesn't it?
Stacy in NJ
Fantastic!! Just wanted to suggest two titles: The Raven Boys and The Scorpio Races both by Maggie Stiefvater. They're both wonderful YA reads without overly too suggestive material. I recommended these to my hairstylist who's not a terribly enthusiastic reader and she LOVED them http://www.amazon.com/The-Raven-Boys-Cycle/dp/0545424925/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349965520&sr=8-1&keywords=the+raven+boys http://www.amazon.com/Scorpio-Races-Maggie-Stiefvater/dp/054522490X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1349965548&sr=1-1&keywords=the+scorpio+races

EKS
Very cool!!! The Eides claim that there is a Great Leap Forward with dyslexic kids in their teens. Maybe this is that.
