Amazing Race is starting and I need a good cookbook!

Recommended Posts

This season I really want the kids to help some of the foods we will be eating. Does anyone know of a good family friendly international food cookbook?

I really don't want to go to the library for different ones. I just want something that will be a good resource for here in the home.

Any ideas?:D

Nooooo! Although it would be fun to make something that looked like that and force the kids to eat it. ;) We have a huge asian market, but I don't think I would be able to find frog Fallopian tubes.

We usually watch an episode and wait for them to say where they are going. Then I plan a meal around that countries food for the next weeks episode. We are still tonight's episode.

So, it looks like next week will be having Chinese food. My kids have never had take out and I am thinking it would be fun and little different than our normal meal approach.

What should I order? Going for good and authentic. What are must haves?

We like Mark Bittman's The Best Recipes in the World.

I have the companion to this book, the one about the US, and I really like it, so I can say it'd probably be pretty good. You can click "Look inside" and see some of the recipes for each country. There's a book list, too, if you wanted to do a book basket the week of each show, or some sort of display or something--I'm imagining an "Amazing Race" center or nook in your homeschooling area! Wouldn't that be fun? You could put a map up, have some books there, and maybe even some objects that you have around the house that come from each country or somehow represent each country (or some of them).
