Mothersweets
How durable are Boogie Boards? eta - not the kind you body surf on!! :) the writing tablet thingy kind. My almost dd's 8th birthday is coming up and she loves to write, draw, etc. I saw this and was wondering if it is really worth the price? and how long do these generally last? Opinions? TravelingChris
Sorry, the only boogie boards I know about are the kind you take to the beach.
athena1277
Sorry, the only boogie boards I know about are the kind you take to the beach. :iagree: Same here. I had to click the link. Thought maybe there was a way people were using them as desks?
Mothersweets
Lol, yeah, the first time I heard of these I thought the same thing! Anyone else?
bzymom
My son has had his for close to three years and it is fine. I will add that he is older and it was used heavily at first and only occasionally now so we may not be duplicating your use. He did have a lot of fun with it! kalanamak
If you go to Amazon, you can read my review under kalanamak. Durable is relative. I've had mine for a year. I have not thrown it, and kiddo has only dropped it on a carpeted floor once. We've has a couple of grabbing matches, but have only used the stylus. It is in great shape. I use it every day, mostly for math. I have the 10.5 inch version and use it instead of a dry erase lap board for drawing diagramming trees, doing bar method work in SM, or for help in handwriting or spelling. I love how you can vary the intensity and width of your mark by pressure. Thus I can shade a circle to make it a sphere. It was on sale recently, first time in months, so don't expect the 10.5 to drop again soon. I love it so much, I nabbed a second one so kiddo and I don't have to hand it back and forth. (Nor am I a techy who has to have everything electronic. I don't even own a cell phone .... still love it.)
Mom-ninja.
My boys just got them. My 3 yr old has already seriously scratched his screen. Deep scratches. I did tell my mom he was too young...... One thing that my boys (and I) don't like is that you can't erase just what you want.
Mothersweets
Thank you everyone! I think I will get my dd one for her bday. She is pretty careful with her things so this should last her. I read your review, kalanamak, and now I'm thinking I should get one for myself, too! Thanks :)
kalanamak
I just looked and the 10.5 inch is VERY low priced right now on Amazon, with only 20 left. It may be being phased out or have a fancier one coming out .... (and really, I own no stock....)
MeaganS
My then 3 year old and 1 year old got one from Grandma. It lasted almost a year before it broke because they kept dropping it (or throwing it). Before it died, it got many, many hours of play, though, and I'd say it was still worth it. It was fantastic for car trips or church.
