Can I hull, crush, and freeze strawberries and make jam later?

Recommended Posts

I take the berries, crush them and measure out how much I would need for a batch of jelly and put it into a ziploc bag. I usually add a cup of sugar to it also to prevent any freezer burn and lemon juice too if the recipe calls for it to keep the fruit from discoloring. I then squeeze all the air out of the bag. The bags stack nice and flat one on top of the other in the freezer. Just make sure to mark on the ziploc how much sugar and lemon juice you added so you use the right amount when making the jelly. I usually do this during the summer and then do a big jelly day when the weather cools down in the fall and I have more time.
