Stupid Question, I'm sure. Personal check made out to a minor?

For some reason this year instead of making out ds6's birthday check to me & dh, my Grandma made it out to ds6. Do we just sign it for him and deposit it?

I take my kids with me and they sign if they are able. If not, I will sign for them, their name and then mine underneath.

I have relatives that do this all the time. My dh aunt once sent a check to our 2 week old son. Our bank just has me sign their name followed with "by mother" and then sign my name.

:iagree: My ds13 gets checks made out to him from his grandparents. He signs,and then I sign my name, then put 'for minor......(ds's name). That's just what our bank told me to do.

Then deposit it in your account and give your dc the cash. This is waht we do all of the time.

My kids both have their own savings accounts, so they just sign the check (ds still prints his name) and then write their account number under it. I have not had to sign my name on it since they've been old enough to sign them. When they were younger, the checks were always made out to us.

I sign and then write "for [child's name], minor child" underneath. Our bank has been fine with that.

We just sign them and deposit them at our ATM. Never had a problem.

For checks written to a minor, the minor cannot endorse the check. A parent or guardian will need to endorse the check. Write: "Parent/Guardian of [Child's Name], Minor" below the endorsement.

I always sign my own name and deposit or cash it, never had a problem.

the child sign and then we sign as well (just one of us) - we've never had a problem!
