Lady Florida.
Whatever she's cooking in that oven looks really, really scary. 50's food was quite scary, as evidenced by the recipe cards linked upthread.
Dana
Hey Dana, thanks for linking those yummy-looking [GAK!] recipes!!! Those are even funnier than I remembered. You may want to get the book. It's pee your pants laughter from some of the cards. Very disturbing.
Luanne
NO WHERE in the OP's post did she say anything about stay at home mom's working harder than other mom's. Whoever thinks that is just searching because there is nothing there. Also, there are obviously some people on here (I know from personal experience) who tend to be offensive no matter what you say. That is probably one reason I have made myself scarce for a while. I just happen to have too much time on my hands right now and find this an interesting diversion. Luanne
This thread has really made me reconsider my office wear. Lately, the warm weather has seduced me into wearing some pretty racy stuff, like polo shirts and capri shorts. Yeah, I know what you all are thinking. It's true, too. When I bend over, you can totally almost see the tops of my calves. More importantly, this thread is making me think about what my dh wears, since he is a SAHD and does the majority of ds' homeschooling. Gone are the days when he would wear his floozy kilt to the office; he's had to put all his high heeled boots away, too (even the sequined ones). I had thought that his unkempt long hair, and tendency to wear jean overalls everywhere was a sign of depression. Now, I realize it's just his new conservative look, in keeping with his non-working status. You talk about trying to take a post and send it off about a million miles from where it started. You really are grasping here.
Catwoman
Now, you know you secretly want some of this! :ack2: :ack2: :ack2: I knew I recognized that thing -- it's the thing that burst out of the guy's stomach in Alien, right? :D
jewellsmommy
Weight Watchers recipe cards, 1974 The book is out of print, but it's available on abe books. Be warned if you haven't read these before.... you likely will be disturbed. Also, language concerns for those of you offended by such. But oh my... they're hysterical. Oh my goodness. That was not real food. :001_huh::lol: Hilarious. All of a sudden Hamburger Helper doesn't seem so bad. :D

Off to see if the OP edited her starting post. Otherwise I don't know how someone could miss the connection.

It doesn't look like she did, which makes that other post even more puzzling.
Peaceful Isle
Ya know, I wasn't gonna comment, but I think I will. :D I had to go to work 3 years ago, when my husband had his horrible MS attacks, and he was not able to work. If I had read the OP then, I would have cried, and it would have been very hurtful to me. I was providing for my family during a hard time. I felt like I was being the best mom possible for my family. I think we are all made differently. Some of us enjoy going to work, some of us love to stay home. Others have to work to put food in their babies mouths, others do not. I have wonderful, loving friends, who are mothers, that work, and their family is the WORLD to them.
