ProudGrandma
it's me and my throat feels like it is on fire. I am not congested, but I can tell that I have some sinus drainage. Can anybody tell me what I can do tonight to help my throat not hurt quite so bad? I already tried warm honey, lemon water...didn't help at all. I hate to take medicine, but will a pain reliever help at all??
flobee76
Do you have raw apple cider vinegar (like Bragg's)? I dilute it with water, gargle, then spit!
brandigirl
Gargle warm salt water and do a nesi rinse in te morning works wonders for me and I have an issue that causes me not to drain so when I finally do its quite fun :(.
readinmom
That's been me for a week now... I agree with the warm salt water gargle and the neti pot. I followed it with Tbl. of lemon juice/tbl. of honey. It seems to help. I feel for you. Absolutely miserable feeling!
Paz
There is an herbal tea called Throat Coat. You can get it in most health food stores. It has worked amazingly for me when I've had sore throats for any reason.
Tiberia
I get sore throats from sinus drainage too. If it's real bad, I take Mucinex. I know you don't want meds, but if you're willing, this might help overnight. It thins the mucus and helps me a lot. Sorry you're in pain. gardenmom5
gargling with salt water will "clean" your throat becasue the drainage going down the back is what is making it sore. a decongestant will help dry up the sinusus and reduce drainage that is making your throat sore. do remember some decongestants will keep you awake. (you said you weren't congested - but if there is any, mucinex is fabulous at thinning secretions to help drain the sinusus - drink LOTS of water.) ibruprophen is an anti-inflamitory and would probably be the most appropriate analgesic. chepyl
Sinus rinse and warm salt water. Some good hot tea helps too.
momtoamiracle
throat coat is awesome tea. I drink it several times a day when my throat is bad. I also like the Herbitussin tea for congestion. the herb sage in warm water makes a good gargle, it dulls the pain. try probiotics as well. I know when I eat a LOT of plain yogurt it helps my sore throats. I've been reading about elderberry syrup, it seems to help.
Amira
When my throat gets really bad, I take ibuprofen. When it's inflamed, there's really not much else that will help me sleep.
MtnMama
Gargling with warm salt water always works for me.
