Where do you begin to find a speech therapist not associated with the public school

Recommended Posts

If you have a hospital in your area that has a Neurodevelopmental Center in it you can check there. That is what we use and "so far" are getting positive results for our son. Ours seems to be supportive of educational choices (public, private OR homeschool) also. HTH

Local universities that have speech-language pathology programs often have low(er) cost clinics where the therapy is done by students but supervised by professionals.

ASHA has a "locate a professional" page

Yellow pages under "speech-language pathologists" or "rehabilitation" (esp any pediatric places)

I know a few school based SLPs (I used to be one!) that would do extra therapy in their spare time - maybe call one of the other schools in your area and talk to the SLP? Maybe they have friends or could give you another contact to try.
