Quick cake question

Recommended Posts

OK, I have a quick question here. I just decorated my daughter's birthday cake for the party which will be tomorrow. Will it be ok just standing out over night? Do I need to cover it? I don't have one of those glass cake coverer things. How would I do plastic wrap with out messing it up? Do I need to refrigerate it? Help! This is my first attempt at really decorating a cake besides just frosting it and throwing a few sprinkles on top. I'm starting to panic now. Here's a picture. The colors are awful. I wanted vibrant and got quite dull.

I think the cake is very cute. And yes you can leave it out overnight if the filling doesn't need to be refrigerated. What I have done for some cakes is place a very very large stainless steel bowl over them. I don't know if one would fit over your cake however. I think mine was a round two layer 9". It's been a long time.

Also I would put it somewhere in the house where it ABSOLUTELY will not get a Nerf dart, foot, book, or whatever landing in it. :001_smile:

My mom stores food inside her car in the garage (during Christmas when it's cold outside).

Thanks! I just wanted more vibrant colors and I'm not experienced with gel food coloring.

It looks fine! And don't apologize to anyone at the party for the colors--own it! :001_smile: It looks like this butterfly:

I agree with a pp that sticking the cake in a cold oven would be your best bet. As long as no one will come along in the morning and turn on the oven without checking first.... :001_huh:
