Help me Hive Mind

Recommended Posts

I need your help to identify this tree and it's fruit. I think it's a cherry tree, but seeing that I have never seen one in real life and don't want to kill myself trying, I thought I'd ask for help. The picture is posted on my blog here. Thank you!

After pitting, bagging, and freezing them, we have enough for 20 pies. Yummie.

The cherries in the pic that you posted are not quite ready but will be in a couple of days.

Btw, I'm in Virginia too...south-central area.

Thank you guys! This is what I thought, but you never know. I just might try to learn how to make cherry pie from real cherries instead of Mrs. Smith's!

Janie, we are in SW VA, too bad because I don't know any WTM'ers here.

I'm in the Tricities on the TN side, and Brigitte is packing up this week to move up your way.

Paige, I'm in Ferrum (40 miles south of Roanoke). What are you close to?

You really should try a fresh cherry pie. It's the easiest thing in the world after you pit the cherries!

You can find cherry pitters in the hardware store. And so worth the effort!

Combine 3 cups pitted fresh ripe tart red cherries, 1 to 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, and dash salt. Turn into pie shell and bake at 400 for 50-55 minutes.

YumYum.
