  1. I've not posted anything on the Sale board for years, and now that they've changed, I'm confused about how to include a "Contact Advertiser Directly" button and how to follow your placed ads easily. Thanks for any help!
  2. I getting ready to list a boatload of curriculum to sell and would like to receive payments via my PayPal account, if that is possible. Is it? And if so, how do I set up my PayPal account to do that? I'm sure a small fee is involved. Is it possible to receive payments into my credit card account or do I need to set up a bank account for that? I've sold stuff before but that was way back in the day of checks and money orders. Thanks for any help!
  3. I cannot find my notes from the last time I taught this, so I'm looking for a student study guide with reading questions. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  4. My sons need one for a small house, and I'd like to give them one as a gift, but I don't know if I want to spend as much as I did on my Dyson. So I'm exploring options instead of a Dyson. Any ideas that have worked for you? The reviews I've read for vacs in the $100-200 range all say they work fine at first but fail to pick up (I suppose that means loss of suction power) later. This probably means a Dyson is the way to go, and I might do it anyway, but they are so expensive. Thanks!
  5. So, we turned on the Roku to watch some Netflix. We haven't changed a thing since last time we watched it. Now we only get a "Settings" icon to change stuff rather than the regular Netflix icon. What gives? We don't want to change any settings. Has anyone else had this happen? How did you resolve it? Thanks!
  6. Substantial state history used to be taught back in my day, but it's hard for me to find solid state history. And most of what I do find is for grammar stage. I've got my old fourth grade history book which is a good 2" thick. Today's stuff seems to have been reduced to 48 pages. I guess that's why students today don't have a good grasp on state history. :( Please post any resource you find. I'm looking particularly for Virginia state history. Thanks!

  8. Thanks, Katrina! We used this series, too, years ago when we homeschooled. Really liked it too because it was great prep for standardized tests. Thanks for reminding me about these. Still looking for the others!
  9. They have several high school level guides that I'm interested in for $14 download (The Canterbury Tales, Confessions of Augustine), but they have no preview available. Has anyone used these that can describe the contents? Thanks!
  10. They are lightweight, cover well, and don't show wrinkles because of the pattern. I often wear a little crochet 3/4-length sweater over these. Best of all, they are inexpensive. http://www.willowridgecatalog.com/product/Apparel/Dresses/Casual/Fresh-Pick-Sundress/pc/466/c/578/sc/677/24085.uts
  11. When your yearly subscription was up, did they remove your access to Roadmap? Thanks!
  12. Is there an equivalent series for late modern history like Oxford's The World in Ancient Times and their medieval/early modern series? If so, could you link it or post the title / ISBN, please? Thanks!

  14. [I've posted this already on the main curriculum board. If someone remembers a similar thread about 1-3 years ago on the K-8 board from a lady gathering info to write some guides, or if you remember posting in that thread, please link it for me. I understand there are some really good answers there. Thanks!] I'm currently exploring some new freelance possibilities of writing reading guides for some great resources that are without any. Before I go down this road, I'd like if interest exists for such things. In my two decades of homeschooling, I found I could have used reading guides to help my children with vocabulary, comprehension, and connections (much of which we did orally because nothing was available like that then). Since then in my traditional classroom days, I have written my own guides for certain books and topics we covered in class and found them very helpful to the students, which they attest to also. I have found that these tools really help students learn material better because just reading the material barely scratches their memory surfaces. Often, for example, students read an unfamiliar word but never stop to look it up in a dictionary or figure out the meaning from context or read (rather, look at) names which never register in their memory banks. Anyway, I'm exploring the possibility of writing reading guides for the books I've used without one. Some of those books are Guerber's The Story of ( ) books, History Lives series (Peace and Peril, Monks and Mystics, etc), some of the useful history books on the Baldwin Project and Ambleside lists, some assorted novel-type historical fiction that coordinates well with period history, and a possible notebook coordinated with Rod & Staff grammar books. Before I go too far down this thinking road, I'd like to see what interest these is for such things. These WTM boards have exploded with users over the decade+ of their existence, so I'm sure your response will be a pretty good evaluation. Please comment whether you have any interest in such tools so I can make a better decision as I test these new waters. Thanks!
  15. Thanks, Lori! I'm just exploring the idea of doing this right now dependent on a few circumstances. I am thinking primarily of middle school, and this endeavor (if it materializes) would be geared more toward traditional classroom use. That's where the students need the guidance of a guide because the teacher cannot be right there with them as they read independently. (A different culture of students exist in the classroom!) One thing I'd ask you - I followed the links you provided here which led the other links you provided (especially your reply in this one). What a great set of links! My serious question: How do you find this stuff? I google and sift through but still, you've found some great, and rather obscure, links there! What parameters to do use to find these, or do you spend hours running these down? I don't have lots of time to spend trying to locate guides available, so any help in establishing a quick-and-easy (if there is one) first stab would be much appreciated. I knew I was taking a little risk posting my initial question here because most homeschoolers do not need reading guides (I didn't when I hsed). But the classroom is a different world altogether! And these guides work the best with the needier students -- the ones who do not have good reading skills, word knowledge, or work ethic. I remember your name from my former WTM days. How are all yours? I'm sure they are almost grown and gone! Thanks again!
