nova mama
We're FINALLY getting around to doing science experiments from Physics Experiments for Children © 1959. Has anyone used this and done the "What Happens to Warm Air?" experiment? If so, may I ask what you did instead of having someone blow a puff of cigarette smoke into the bottom bottle? :D
Haiku
Wow ... Sounds like you better run out for some ciggies. Tara
ezrabean2005
I've never used this, but what about lighting a match, blowing it out and letting the smoke go into the bottle?
Miss Tick
 Ah, the pitfalls of vintage curriculum. Next they are going to ask you to time how long it takes the dial to return to zero when you dial 9 on your (rotary) phone.

mom2jjka
A small birthday candle would make a good deal of smoke, too.
nova mama
I ended up burning a small piece of paper towel and held the jar over smoke, then put a lid on it. It was in the sink, with running water ready. It think the match and candle are much better (and safer) ideas. But the kids did enjoy the small fire! nova mama
That's hilarious. Hey, back in the day, "the" craft project was an ashtray. You're RIGHT! Can you IMAGINE?!

My DD would think that it must be the best phone ever since it has the word "party" in it. :tongue_smilie:

In the Rain
 If you drive behind a strip mall or restaurant, there are plenty of people smoking on their breaks. Would it freak them out if you pulled up and asked them to blow some smoke in a bottle?
