Teresa in MO
my dh worked late last night and I fixed him something to eat when he got home. I was tired and forgot to put the tub of butter up (not real butter, the spread that is non hydorgenated oil). I found it on the counter when I got up this morning, so it sat out about 8 hours. It does say keep refrigerated. It is almost full and I hate to dump it, but its not worth the $3 to replace it if it will make everyone sick. So, would you dump this? JessReplanted
It's only fake butter - I would think it should be fine.
Pamela H in Texas
It wouldn't even cross my mind to dump it unless it had a moth in it or something. LOL
Krista in LA
I wouldn't even consider throwing it out - we leave stuff like that sitting out often.
Parrothead
It wouldn't even cross my mind to dump it unless it had a moth in it or something. LOL Even then I'd scoop the moth part out and just dispose of that part of the "butter."
Xilka
I lived a couple of years without electricity, so no fridge. Butter and cheese do fine unrefrigerated for a few days. Non-butter would last even longer.
mombygrace
:iagree: I'll definitely keep it.
luvnlattes
I'm with the others and wouldn't worry about it.
MamaT
It's fine. It really doesn't have to be refrigerated.
Mommie_Jen
Happens to us all the time. DH will make toast or something late at night and not put the fake butter away. I stick it in the fridge in the morning, it's fine.
In the Rain
I wouldn't toss it. The porkchops from Whole Foods that got left out overnight- I tossed those yesterday morning. :glare:
brendag
For years, my mom always kept a stick of margarine in a butter container in the cupboard so it was soft enough to spread on bread or whatever else. One of our friends said his family did this as well. I guess we are lucky to be alive. :D
CupOCoffee
I am in the "don't toss" camp as well. AND: I leave butter out ALL.THE.TIME....I really hate when the butter is so hard you can't spread it in anything!! Been doing it for 25 years now and DH and kids & I are still alive! ~coffee~
