tntgoodwin
What appears to be the better deal here? We currently have a 2001 Ford Expedition XLT, 137k miles Which of the following would be a better replacement? 2002 Honda Odyssey, 113k miles, $5500 or 2004 Toyota Sienna CE, 120k miles, $6500 assuming they were both in decent condition. Veritaserum
I don't think you can go wrong. :) I've loved our Odyssey and both of our Siennas. I've never owned the particular years you're looking at, so I would google reviews of those particular models and see if there are common issues. :)
Celia
I think the sienna had transmission trouble in 04.
jennsmile
We bought a used 04 sienna that was toytota certified. We love it! It seats 8 and other than replacing brakes and doing simple routine repairs have had no issues. Enjoy which ever van you get.
Cindy in FL.
We have a 2004 Toyota Sienna which we bought new. It has been a great car and we would buy one again. Cindy

Random
Have you checked CarComplaints.com? Enjoy your new van!
PeacefulChaos
Honda. Just because I prefer Hondas over Toyotas. :)
sbgrace
Our 2001 Odyssey had major transmission trouble--2 rebuilds and it needs another so it just sits because we're not pouring more money in. I believe (not certain) that year had transmission issues as well and I think some of the Toyotas did in certain years too. I would avoid those years in both vehicles and I'd recommend you check for the ones you are considering. We did a Kia instead.
OrdinaryTime
I believe the 2002 Honda Odysseys tend to have bad transmissions. I did a lot of research a few years ago on it when we bought our Honda.
tntgoodwin
Well, it turns out the Toyota actually had 171k miles, and the power sliding door didn't work.
tntgoodwin
So, we ended up getting a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX-L with 67k miles for $8500.
