emeraldjoy
wierd.....I don't get on here a whole lot anymore (since new baby).....but strange to see the title as we have an "uh-lie-is"!!!! But if you ask our two year old she would say "wyas" In Morocco they called him ell-ee-us....(in arabic) which seems to fit the greek translation more. I haven't read through the thread in its entirety but so, so many different ways to pronounce the name!!!
Laura Corin
But Doug isn't pronounced "dog" - it's pronounced "dug" - like "I dug a really big hole in the yard". :) Rhymes with "bug" and "rug". Okay, still a funny name... but not as bad as "dog". ;) Where it's pronounced 'Doog'. 'House' is also pronounced 'hoos'. Laura
Osmosis Mom
Where it's pronounced 'Doog'. 'House' is also pronounced 'hoos'. Laura Interesting, Laura. In Danish house is "hus", pronounced 'hoos'. I am thinking them vikings taught the Scottish how to speak. :D

Marylou
When I lived in Mexico, my friends with that name pronounced it: "L" "E" "S" with that accent on the "E". I like it that way best. Edited September 18, 2011 by dmmosher

Truscifi
This is a Greek name. Eh-LEE-us That is also the Spanish pronunciation. However I have heard it pronounced "ee-LIE-us" by people of more Anglo heritage.
