proverbs356lady
My dog just ate my 4 Double Stuffs. I've always heard that chocolate kills dogs. Should I be worried? Should I call the vet? Should I just keep an eye on her? What would you do?
Jean in Newcastle
How big is the dog? If it is a medium to large dog, probably the most that would happen is that the dog might throw up. A smaller dog and I would be worried more. My friend's Westie died from chocolate but that was from developing pancreatitis from eating an entire pound of Belgian chocolate. Mynyel
Not going to kill him/her:) Our dog has gobbled up chocolate before. It isn't good for them though. Hmmm I don't even know if Oreo's can be considered real chocolate anyway! :P
Impish
Never leave oreos unattended.
In The Great White North
How big is your dog? My 80 lb Bernese Mountain Dog ate a large Hershey Kiss a few years ago. The vet wasn't too concerned. He had no noticeable side effects. After that, I wouldn't even call about four Double Stuffs. If I had a Chihuahua, it would be different. kokotg
there's not enough real chocolate in oreos to worry about. If you want to be cautious, though, you can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. With the disclaimer that I am not a vet....I have a dog who gets into EVERYTHING, and I've gone that route a couple of times for large amounts of chocolate with no problems (other than the mess of cleaning up the chocolate when it comes back out :ack2:). There are charts you can find online that tell you how much chocolate it takes to hurt dogs; I mean, it can definitely kill them, but it takes more than you might expect, especially when it's not really dark chocolate. Parrothead
It wouldn't even phase my dog.
Carrie12345
Hrmph! Does NO ONE remember the commercial?! "Mom says dogs can't have chocolate. But you can have the rest of my milk!" Hope your pooch is okay!
proverbs356lady
Our dog's a cocker spaniel and weighs maybe 30 lbs. Do you think she's big enough to handle 4 Oreos? I'll keep an eye on her and hope I don't have to be up with her all night. I feel a little better with what you've all said. Thank you all! You're right Impish, I can't believe I was so careless! This shall never happen again!

WiseOwlKnits
Our miniature Schnauzer (when I was a kid) ate a 1 lb bag of M&M's. He was fine. I wouldn't worry about 4 Oreos. :)
