LinRTX
It has been so long since we have seen rain. My two girls went outside to walk in it -- my 11yo and 18yo. We have had 40 days of highs over 100. The record for our are is 42. It has not hit 100 yet today. It may yet. We may still break the record. I really don't care about the record. I would love more rain. It just stopped.
The Girls' Mom
Lucky you!!! It just teased us here. Big storm clouds brewing up...you could actually SMELL the rain. But it fizzled out before it actually got here :glare:
Ellie
LUCKY! No rain in this part of Texas, so I'm major jealous. :glare: But I'm glad for you. :001_smile:

I see those 100+ temps day after blistering day. We've had shorter spells and it really wilts me, but a solid month of that. Sheesh! I'd be catatonic. Lacie
Looks like we all live pretty close together. They said last night that the rain would not cross the Red River... I guess they were wrong! We still need quite a bit more rain to make any difference though.
LinRTX
It was fast. I was so excited. I called my husband (who has no windows where he works) and then sat down to type to everyone here. By the time I was halfway done, my gils came in to say it quit. Linda
AngieW in Texas
No rain here. As of August 9th, we have had 55 days at or above 100 degrees. Just 14 more will tie the record set here in 1923. Thirteen more will tie with 2009.
Pamela H in Texas
Linda, are you in DFW? I don't think we're going to break the record. It's only 95 and I stated, "it's cool with a breeze." In my defense, I did state that before I knew the temp. Anyway, my kids are LOVING it. Good thing cuz I'm miserably sick. Anyway, I would love some rain. Are you up north of here? They said something about rain closer to the OK border, but even in Cook county.
simka2
Blue skies and 100+ degrees here! Just got back from the pool and am feeling a bit better!!!! You know it is bad when I am starting to fantasize about winter in Alaska;).

UnsinkableKristen
We sat for most of rest time with our noses pressed to the screen on the window waiting for it to rain and nothing came :glare: BUT I will move past that and thankfully accept the overcast skies we had for just a little bit and the breeze! And I'll try to be happy for those of you that got a little sprinkle ;)
WiseOwlKnits
We didn't get any, but hearing about it gives me hope that it does still know how to rain in Texas. Hopefully it will be our turn soon.....

LinRTX
Sorry, it took so long to answer. I just got back on. For some reason I had to go take care of family. Yes, I'm in the southwestern part of DFW. And you are right, we did not break the record. Were you here in '80 when the record was set? That was my first summer in DFW. I was young and working my first job out of college. My upstairs apartment had a barely working air conditioner that could not really keep up. LinRTX
My youngest just saw this and said, "An hour! Oh, how I wish it would rain for an hour here."

AngieW in Texas
I was in Dallas for that summer. My poor dh was in Denton and his family lived in a farmhouse that had been built just before the turn of the century and didn't have air conditioning. That was also where we lived for several years while going to school at UNT.
