Math program for a kid who doesn't like manipulatives..likes copywork but wants

Recommended Posts

Some ideas: My oldest ds did well with Mastering Mathematics, which teaches one skill at a time, has a very simple black and white layout and no distracting pictures.

Second ds did well with Strayer-Upton's Practical Arithmetics, which are hardbound, reusable books that you need to copy the problems from. Old-fashioned, but simple and straightforward to use.

DD is happily using MCP (Modern Curriculum Press) math. It's a little more cluttered than the other two, but still fairly simple layout, nothing fancy, and easy to use.

I guess I should mention that Mastering Mathematics is a Christian program, if that makes a difference to you one way or the other.
