chai
Cupcakes set on a platter and decorated to look like a flag. Fruit tart/pizza decorated with blueberries and strawberries to look patriotic.
mom4him
There will be around 10 adults and around 17 kids...any ideas? I am doing a strawberry short cake. I bought a BIG bag of frozen sliced strawberries at Sam's last night, I have fresh farm cream in my fridge for the whipped cream and I will make the cake Sat. or Sun. Stacia
The blueberry crumble or strawberry cheesecakes here look good.
joannqn
This won't feed that many people but it's perfect for the 4th of July. I had a reminder set in my Google calendar with a link since last year because I thought it was so cool.
Annie G
A cheap, non-healthy dessert is poke cake. Bake a sheet cake, let it cool 15 minutes, then poke it with a large fork. Mix a red jello (use 1 cup boiling water, mix, then add 1/2 cup cold water) and pour over the cake. Put in the fridge for at least 3 hours, and top with cool whip or whipped cream. Add star sprinkles or red white and blue sprinkles, and you're done. You can make this at least a day in advance and keep it covered in the fridge. Some folks add fruit to the top to make it look like a flag- blueberries and strawberries. It's one of those desserts that everyone likes but nobody admits to liking it because it has jello and cool whip.
Cinder
I like the idea of a fancier dessert--like the ones mentioned above--and a simple option like a tray of brownies or cookies. You could also make rice krispy treats and press red, white & blue sprinkles into the tops.
Carol in Cal.
Don't they have red, white and blue M&M's this time of the year? If so, I would be inclined to make sugar cookies with them in them, cut with star shaped cookie cutters.
NanceXToo
For the kids, you could set out bowls of strawberries, marshmallows and blueberries and let them make their own red, white and blue skewers on those wooden craft dowel things. mandymom
This was something I made last 4th of July. Not a patriotic dessert, but enjoyed by all Chocolate Crunch Brownies Here's what I'm thinking for this year: 4th of July Cake

mooooom
what about root beer floats and/or orange soda floats. Just a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the soda - the orange one is awesome - tastes like an orange creamsicle
