sassenach
I am researching standardized tests for my 1st and 2nd graders (though I may hold off with the first grader). I am looking for something that I can administer, that tests skills over content (focused on LA and math, not so much science and social studies), and that has a format which is comparable to that used in a public school standardized test (the point being, one of my reasons is so that they are familiar with the formatting of tests which they may need to take in the future). I want something that will help me track growth over the coming years (or spot trouble). Poll to follow, thanks for your input!

Crimson Wife
Is there any particular reason why you didn't list the ITBS? I'm only familiar with the ITBS and the CAT-E, and found the former to give *much* more useful results (we aren't required to test but choose to do so for planning purposes). Maverick_Mom
The PASS test can't be used till 3rd grade. So there's one off your list. ;)
Ellie
For myself, as I do not have a degree, I couldn't do the SAT or the ITBS. That leaves the PASS test (I wouldn't test dc before 3rd grade anyway) or the CAT-5, which doesn't have requirements for the administrator. EKS
I voted "other". ITBS.
JudoMom
We like the ITBS. I don't have a degree, so my dh administers the test.
ElizabethB
ITBS. You can skip any sections you want. You can just do the math and LA. Or, you can just do the math and LA and any of the other sections that look interesting to you.
