FaithManor
So, I have decided to bare my soul and make a confession. I am addicted to books. My favorite casino is Barnes and Nobles and my favorite game is "two for the price of one", second favorite, "Buy three, get one free", and "the teacher education discount". I also bookamble at Amazon, Bookcloseouts, and I bet viciously on eBay. I am also addicted to Romantic Era classical music with stalkerish tendancies towards Debussey, Chopin, Ravel, and Rachmaninoff, with a quirky twist of J.S. Bach. My substance abuse addictions of choice are chocolate and coffee, with a new addiction on the horizon - RUM CAKE. I horde quilt fabric. Though there may be 12 step programs to aide me in recovery, I prefer to remain blissfully impaired, completely do-dependent, and otherwise dysfunctional. There! I feel so much better. I am working on the chocolate problem, so where is the Brie???? Faith
3lilreds in NC
 You are not alone in your book addiction! I do the same things - but I have to stay away from Ebay. Ebay is too dangerous. I hoard yarn and cross stitch stuff. I used to hoard quilt fabric but I gave a lot away when we moved. :svengo: I'm also a hoarder of scrapbooking stuff. Chocolate and caffeine - what a beautiful combination. I need to give them both up but I gave up Facebook for Lent, so they are what is getting me through that withdrawal. :D
Tiberia
Chocolate problem? What's a chocolate problem, other than not enough. Chocolate is a nutrient. Thanks for your book confession. I come from a long line of addicts. My mom got in trouble when she was a kid for reading at night and putting her bloomers over the lamp to hide the light. They caught on fire. I used to put a bathroom towel next to my door so my parents couldn't see the light at night when I was reading after hours. Now we have to tell my daughter to stop reading at night. I think it's hopeless. Do not try to seek help. Give up. Say, did you get the B & N discount coupon in email today? Up to 50% off! By the way: Confessing to this forum is like asking another crackhead if you should take another hit. Go for it!
justamouse
...if you would have added cookbooks and fountain pens you would be my doppleganger. :D *sigh* Debussey. Houses without books freak me out. And I will read what you ahve on your shelves.
12Stars
Yes, I am a fellow addict. I cannot enough books. Cannot get a Kindle in fear that I might go over the edge.
TXMary2
I was dangerous when I discovered curriculum on Ebay. I have been cured from Ebay. Now my drugs of choice are Amazon.com and Half Price Books. A book in one hand and a chocolate bar in the other is my special heaven.:D
KidsHappen
I recently read a book titled Biblioholic and realized that I too may have a problem. I buy books I have already read and liked. I buy books that I plan to read someday. I buy books that I think others in the family might like to read. I buy reference books. I own more books than my local library in some categories. I have no clothes, my house is not decorated, we don't have an entertainment or leisure budget because I spend all of my money on books and to make things worse, I am running out of places to put them. My shelves are overflowing and I only have room for a few more half height bookshelves. I don't know what I am going to do then. :glare:
Kareni
I am addicted to books. I come from a long line of addicts. My mom got in trouble when she was a kid for reading at night and putting her bloomers over the lamp to hide the light. They caught on fire. You'd heard of 'hot pants', right? Thanks for the added laughs. Regards, Kareni
arliemaria
I found a new addiction today: dark chocolate caramels with sea salt at Whole Foods. OH MY. I just started homeschooling, but have always been a junkie. I was a Christian Education major in college. I wanted to write curriculum for a living. Well, I guess that's my job now as a home schooling parent. Living the life!
kchara
By the way: Confessing to this forum is like asking another crackhead if you should take another hit. Go for it!:lol: I totally agree... I downloaded something like 50 books from Amazon last night for Kindle (they were free books, in my defense...). The great part? I don't have a Kindle. I do have a PC Kindle app, and a 'Droid Kindle app, but I don't actually own a Kindle. My excuse is that I'm getting one for DD for her birthday. (In theory, it's to save money on her TOG books. In reality, it's so she can read at night and not wake up her sisters. She's her mother's daughter, what can I say??) My DD's birthday isn't until June. I'm pretty sure I didn't need to download them ALL last night...

Hen
I have a problem, also. We are at Barnes & Nobles 2-3 times a week. The employees there know our phone number by heart- for our member discount and our names and fav drinks at the cafe. It's kind of like going to Cheers, but without the beer. :D
