jenn&charles
http://www.adventuretales.com/history.html There are 4 free pdf's to download and you can also look at every book online for free. :) There's also a free student's activity guide that would be great to accompany any American history program: http://www.adventuretales.com/atv1activity.htm

*Jessica*
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a 7-year-old who is hugely into history, particularly anything that has to do with war. He also loves comic books. The Adventure Tales of the Civil War and Reconstruction looks like something he would LOVE!

Irishmommy
Wanted to bump this up in case there were others who didn't see this. I also wanted to add, that the download for the text and the teacher guide was only $16. I was planning on printing out the student pdf for my son next year, but then I found a b/w version of the hardback book for $5 and some change at Half Price Books! I'm going to use this as our history spine for my 5th grader next year. Thanks so much Jenn!

That's a great find! :)
