ktgrok
I've never used that airport, and I'm a bit concerned that a 30 minute layover won't be long enough to get the kids to the bathroom, get over there, etc. I'll have an 11 year old aspie and a 1 year old with me. 2squared
The Mpls airport is large. I would say definitely no to using a bathroom with only 30 minutes between flights. Depending on how close the gates are, you may very well be running to make it.
TravelingChris
If you are flying one airline that has limited flights, like Southwest, yes. I don't know if that answer would hold for some airline where that airport is a hub (Delta).
k2bdeutmeyer
The Minneapolis airport is LONG....it takes forever to get from one end to the other. It is possible to do it in 30 min (I've done it with 3 kids), but we had to RUN.
ktgrok
It's Delta. I will choose a different flight then, ,thank you!!! I don't need that kind of stress! How long a layover would be ideal for that airport, or detroit or atlanta?
2squared
Delta probably only has a few gates, so you may not need to run. I would look at that first. Mpls is mostly Northwest flights. If you fly Northwest or a smaller regional plane and transfer to a larger flight, those would definitely be a problem.
ktgrok
What about Atl? How long do I need there? Or detroit?
angela in ohio
We flew out of Detroit and had layovers in Minneapolis and Atlanta last time we flew. I think an hour would have been fine at any of them, as long as you do your homeowork, so that you know which way to head and where the bathroom is. Unfortunately, you just don't know up front how far you will have to hike. At our layover in Minn (Delta,) our gates were far, far apart. Our incoming flight has been diverted to another gate. dani3boys
A half hour would be risky unless you find someone with an electric cart to give you a lift. Last time we flew out of MSP using Delta, and our gate would have taken us a half hour to walk to. Lucky for us a man driving one of those carts by us gave us a lift. ktgrok
Thanks everyone!!! I will allow for at least an hour at each stop!
KatieJ
Northwest does not exist any longer. It was bought out by Delta, therefore most of the airport is Delta.
vonfirmath
Also note that if you gate-check anything (a stroller) you can not even get started travelling to the second gate until the gate checked items come out.
