TN Mama
My 8 year old loves animals, especially dogs. I've purchased a few books for her for Christmas, but I'm looking for one more and I'd love for it to be about a dog. She's read several Carol Haywood books and Boxcar Children books, to give you an idea of her reading level. Thank you in advance for any help you're able to offer. Kareni
Hank the Cowdog is an amusing series whose main characters are dogs. Regards, Kareni
Farrar
Not just Babe, but most anything by Dick King-Smith would be appropriate.

NanceXToo
Cujo? JUST KIDDING. LOL. Ok seriously.... Do you have The Incredible Journey yet? It's about two dogs and a cat who share adventures as they travel through 300 miles of wilderness searching for their masters. It's a movie and a book. Or what about a book about sled dogs? Or search and rescue dogs? Or a book about seeing eye dogs? No specific titles are coming to mind for any of those, but you could look some up? AnotherLinda
I haven't read these books but a friend recommended them to me. http://www.titus2.com/moody-series/index.php They are Christian books about a homeschooling family and their dog. Also the Puppy Place Series is about a 2nd grade reading level.
