Daisy
This was the conversation at the bank today. Teller: Don't you, kids, wish you could have one of these $50 bills? 11yo: No, I want another silver coin for when the dollar is worthless. 8yo: No, I want a gold coin since gold is trading at over $1,300 an ounce. Me: Geez, guys, stop the conspiracy theory talk. That combined with homeschooling is sure to terrify everyone. Teller: ROFLOL. And then right after that they got into a discussion with the octogenarian postal lady about how there was a postal system in Cordoba, Spain back in the 700's and it was put into place by the Muslims. She asked them why they were out of school and they said, "We homeschool and did all our work before lunch." To which she replied, "Well, you sure know more than I do about history." I LOVE days like this. Tomorrow, the kids will probably do something to embarrass me, but today was pretty good. :tongue_smilie: Oops, this was probably posted to the wrong board. Sunshine State Sue
8yo: No, I want a gold coin since gold is trading at over $1,300 an ounce. Inquiring minds want to know how the 8yo knows about the price of gold! Please elaborate.
Daisy
 Inquiring minds want to know how the 8yo knows about the price of gold! Please elaborate. LOL. Because HE asks me to look it up for him. He and his sister actually negotiate their Playmobil pirate pieces with pretend silver coins and gold doubloons. He's just making sure his sister doesn't rip him off. And his sister likes to know about silver because she got a silver coin for her birthday one year. It's all in play. This is just as great as the original teller story.
lovinmomma
This is fabulous! Made me think that maybe we should purchase gold for our children for their birthdays as an investment.
